The Post Goes Viral
Deirdre was stunned by the event that followed after sharing Liam’s story. Her post was share as much as a whopping 2,500 times. The story gathered the right attention as many Facebook users stumbled upon the post. People were furious after realizing what this 7th grader had gone through and how the school failed in doing him justice. There were comments boasting of words that showed support for Liam. However, this was just the beginning of the movement which was yet to follow.
Standing With Liam
The Facebook post was all over the internet now and the story made its way to many other social media handles. The hashtag #WeStandWithLiam was number one on trending. T-shirts, signs and different kinds of stickers were displayed with this slogan. The movement took the whole city by storm when Nasdaq stock exchange featured the slogan on Times Square. Things were about to change real fast for Liam and his family.
A New Confidence
Liam was still struggling with his condition when the #WeStandWithLiam movement went viral. The little boy was taken aback by the amount of support he had been receiving over social media and different places over the few past weeks. The moral and the emotional support that thousands of people expressed moved Liam and there was a total shift in this boy’s attitude and he was ready to go home.
A Proud Moment
As soon as Liam returned to his home, he insisted rejoining his school to the earliest despite the school’s lack of support. “When I dropped him off that first day, my jittery nerves turned to overwhelming pride as I watched my son confidently walk right through the front doors,” Deirdre said. “He even finished out the soccer season as the top scorer,” she further added.
Homecoming
Liam had to spend two more months on the hospital bed before fully recovering. He finally regained his strength and was healthy enough to return home. Deirdre was relieved to see that her son was finally making progress and he was no longer sad and depressed. She made sure to celebrate the boy’s homecoming by cooking him his favorite pancakes. It is right to say that “the comeback is always stronger than the setback,” and Liam made his mom proud by what he did after returning home.
Better Every Day
Liam was now under medication to help him with his depression but the good thing was that he had started to regain weight. Can it get any better? Yes, he had started to hang out with his friends again and the boy was growing confident with every passing day. We appreciate Liam’s ability to approach such an unpleasant situation with love and not hatred. It’s high time that we all put bullying to an end.
