Now the figure was just a few inches away from him. His heartbeat began to race as his confronter was none other than a giant wild elephant! And in no way, it looked in a good mood. As we all know African elephants do not have a good reputation for dealing with humans. It was to see what kind of confrontation was it going to be. The elephant was looking directly at him and the guide and his cameraman started quaking in their boots with blanched faces. The only thing McSmith had in his mind was how is he going to face this big trouble. Now let us know a bit about the giant African elephants that had blown the mind of this highly experienced guide.
African Elephants
The African Wild elephants are the largest land mammals dwelling on earth. They are usually calm and sociable but sometimes could be dangerous if irritated by something. Here, in this case, the elephant looked far from being calm and poise, in fact, it looked very infuriated. It was indeed shocking because both the explorers had done nothing to provoke the animal. The reaction was completely unprovoked. In the lack of any concrete reason, we can assume that perhaps the elephant did not like Alan and his colleagues” presence there and was apparently in no mood to forgive them. It was a hope against hope for both the explorer. They were in a big time trouble!
Move At Your Own Risk
It is unusual to find an elephant dwelling outside a protected wildlife reserve. They are usually calm but that is not always the case especially if it is about an African elephant. The older bulls and young males are the most dangerous of African elephants as they can be aggressive even without being provoked. One more point to note is that the places where the population of elephants is scarce, elephants of that area are more aggressive. But in any case, if you encounter them you should immediately start praying to g0d for your life. But here Alan had something else on his mind.
Run Away Or What?
What do you think could be the best option for Alan and his cameraman? To run away? Well, that is the first thing that comes to our mind while facing such circumstances. Surprisingly, Alan instead of running away stood to his ground and kept staring back at the huge and apparently enraged elephant. Both of them were all by themselves, with no firearms around. What do you think would he do to save himself? Trust me what he actually did would not have even crossed your mind.
Caught In The Lens
On the other side, the cameraman who was quivering had his camera on. Despite the fear, he stayed put just like McSmith. Whereas both the explorers were tight-lipped, the camera was recording the video of the face-off between the elephant and the man which was soon going to shake the world. Fat And Furious
As mentioned earlier, McSmith did not budge even after seeing the furious elephant in front of him. Mind you, till then he did not know what fate was he going to meet. Was he going to make it out of it or was it the last time of him being on a safari? All answers to these questions depended on the act of elephant which was still not clear. The elephant who was just a few inches away continued to look him in his eyes. Was Alan looking into the eyes of his death or his fate had something else in store for him?
