Will Be Coming Soon

Shelly and her husband were more than impressed by the restaurant’s gesture. In a world where people only go about themselves, this selfless act won their heart and making an everlasting impression. On a funny note, she mentioned in a post on her Facebook that She’ll soon be re-visiting “Not just because of the voucher, but because of how well this guy treats his patrons,” Shelly wrote on Facebook.

Selfless Motive

No matter what a few people have to say, that doesn’t change the fact that McLean is selfless in his efforts and his cause is genuine. He clearly mentioned in the very first line of his letter to Shelly that he wasn’t even concerned if she had visited his restaurant or not.”I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not,” the letter read. All he wanted was to thank and congratulate Shelly for not getting behind the steering wheel while she was drunk.

Don’t Drink And Drive

As per the research conducted by a special interest group named Mothers Against Drunk Driving, drink and drive leads to a lethal accident responsible for the death of an individual in every 51 seconds making it one of the major causes of death alone in the U.S. One should rather be appreciated than criticized if they raise awareness about an issue as important. As McLean mentioned in his letter to Shelly, life is valuable – so we should all act accordingly.

Helping Hand

This issue is of more significance than people consider it to be. You’ll be surprised to know that a person suffers major injuries every two minutes due to drink and drive. It is not only the person who gets drunk and get behind the steering wheel ends up risking his life, but it could also be anyone who crosses his paths with a drunk driver. While the cases including such acts have been reduced by a significant margin over the past few years, it is still an underlying concern in the society and thanks to the campaigns in the likes of Original Joe’s that helps in addressing and creating awareness among the people.

Things To Remember

If you have plans to drink outside, make sure you also plan about how to get back home in time i.e. book a cab or tag along with someone reliable who doesn’t drink so they can drive you back home. Figure out the route beforehand if you plan to travel by public transport. If you spot a drunk driver on the road, make sure you contact the police. Stay safe, act smart!
