A Note
There was a dozen of things racing through Shelly’s head before she read the obvious truth. It was clear that the note wasn’t a parking ticket. Shelly thought that the note must have been left by the bar’s management as her car had blocked the front entry for almost as much as 2 days. Her speculation was somehow right though, the note had been left behind by the bar but the purpose was somewhat different and when Shelly got to the end of the note she was astounded to know the intent behind it.
A Letter Of Congratulations
As it transpired, the note was left by the restaurant’s management. Were they angry at Shelly? No! Surprisingly it was the other way around. “I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not,” the note read. “But we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving. To Shelly’s surprise, the note actually congratulated her for leaving her car behind. But this isn’t just it, there’s more to it…
Rewarded For Doing The Right Thing
The management at Original Joe’s rewarded Shelly for doing the right thing and acting as a responsible citizen. “Enclosed is a voucher for 1lb of our delicious chicken wings. Please accept this as a thank you for being responsible. Life is valuable, have a great weekend,” were the final words in the letter. The note was signed by the manager at Original Joe’s, named Jay McLean.
Spreading The Word
Shelly was quite impressed by Jay’s gesture and she immediately took to her Facebook account and posted details regarding what happened. In an effort to spread the message about the restaurant’s kindness she wrote “When I found the letter on my windshield, I thought I was getting in trouble for leaving my car in front of the entryway to the pub. Wow! I’m so impressed. Definitely going back.” Shelly further posted a picture of the letter that only made it viral.
A Viral Gesture
The story struck the right chords as it went places in no time. Shelly’s post went viral at the drop of a hat racking up as much as 5,000 shares within minutes after the letter was posted online. A lot of people who didn’t even know Shelly appreciated her for acting responsibly while others praised her for leading by example. Not only Shelly, but the management at Original Joe’s was also credited for their act of kindness.
More Than Happy
Shelly was happy about the exposure and the attention her story had received, not because she was getting to be famous but for the fact that her story might influence other businesses to come up with such offers that will only encourage the local citizens to be more responsible in how they see things and act up. For your information, the idea was not originated by Mr. McLean.
