Meredith agreed and confirmed the fact that Rose was absolutely right about the artist’s past. He further concluded that it was possible for the painting to be authentic given the old woman’s whereabouts. However, the appraiser had one last question for Rose “Have you had it appraised before? Do you know if she had it appraised?”
Previous Appraisals
To everyone’s surprise, the painting had been previously appraised not once but twice as a part of the house appraisal. “It was appraised for a price of $200 as a print in the year 19998 while in 2004 it was appraised at $250,” Rose told the appraiser. One could easily see Meredith’s pupil dilate out of disbelief and her smile starts to show up in the very next moment in an attempt to hide something she already knew.
Disbelief
Meredith was trying hard to hold back her smile as she glued her eyes to the painting before looking back at Rose. She then started to give her professional evaluation on the painting. Her evaluation made the value more astounding and Rose was having a hard time believing her own ears. The situation heated up when tears started to roll down her cheeks. The Price
“So, if we were going to put this in an auction today, I would suggest an estimate of $200,000 – $300,000,” Meredith said. Rose was dumbstruck by what she heard and she took a minute to gain some self-composure. It was a moment of absolute disbelief but it was also as incredible at the same time for Rose. Teary-Eyed
Meredith was initially very quiet and the camera was busy capturing the distinct emotions that flashed over Rose’s face, her very first expression displayed absolute disbelief which was quickly taken over by a quirky giggle. Then a dozen of different emotions came forward until ultimately, the young woman was filled with tears. Rose then came up with an innocent question that showed the importance of her grandmother’s heirloom in her life.
