Helicopter Spots Something
To locate the areas where all the animals habitat the team of experts decided to look from the skies above Wells Gray Park in April 2018. The Canadian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change asked the crew to take the helicopter in order to check the area thoroughly, however, they stumbled upon something that changed their lives forever.
Noticed Something Unusual
As they were searching for the area where the majority of the animals live in the national park, the team spotted a massive hollow on the ground. They were surprised to see it. So, they went down to check it out and found out that it was a cave, full of snow, and obviously was very deep. The cave was really deep and one of the members of the team suggested that they should notify the park authorities about it as it was something they weren’t specialized for.
Star Wars Looking Hole
Bevan Ernst, a biologist who was one of the members of the team was also present that day when they discovered a deep hollow pit which they named it “Sarlacc’s Pit” in attributing it to the monstrous desert-dwelling beast which eats its victims in the blockbuster movie Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. But what happened next shocked everybody…
Let The Investigation Commence
Following this amazing discovery whilst in the helicopter, a team of experts got to work researching Sarlacc’ Pit. The team took several photographs of the cave and in September 2018 a team, assisted by Catherine Hickson and John Pollock, went inside the huge cave and started the investigation to learn more about it. And they found quite interesting things about the cave.
Arriving At The Cave
“It was absolutely amazing, I immediately recognized that this was very significant,” said Catherine Hickson to the Canadian national broadcaster CBC. It was like heaven on Earth. The team was mesmerized by the interior of the cave that was just simply beautiful to watch. But they weren’t there as a tourist but scientists and had a very important job to do which was to find out about the cave and why it stayed hidden for so long.
Initial Discovery
The team included Hickson and Pollock and also Lancour, the helicopter pilot who spotted the cave from the above along with Tod Haughton and Lee Hollis. Another person who was also present was Chas Yonge, who was working remotely. So, their first goal was to measure the size of this amazing cave.
