The Dark Night
As usual, Charlie went to bar that night. It was Christmas around the corner and the bar was overcrowded. There was a lot of work that night and with every hour, things got hectic. He had to do overtime that night at Grissini Ristorante. He informed Velvet about the same. But as the night darkened, Velvet got anxious. And her anxiety was answered by that call.
Lost Him
The phone call was from the bar. And the person on the other side spoke the words which any wife won’t wish to hear. Velvet was informed that Charlie slept into peace. He suffered a cardiac arrest or a heart -attack. That night he could not make it home. Velvet was distressed and lost. She wept over the call. Just then she had an array of questions she needed an answer to.
Pointing Questions
Velvet was totally baffled at the news of Charlie suffering a heart attack. She was constantly thinking that he was a healthy human being and merely 57 in age, the man who never showed the signs of obesity or any other related cardio-vascular disorder, then how did a heart attack take his life. She was curious. Was it a natural death or were the things kept hidden from her?
Raising Suspicion
While the young age phase is the one full of energy and excitement, the aging one is where one needs their partner the most. Velvet was destroyed realizing that the love of her life had left her in that phase. But all she kept thinking was, the man who was so loved died in such a sudden manner was strange. Was it a murder or something? Were people envious of the praise he had been getting all along?
He Will Live
After battling with these weird set of questions, she came to the conclusion that these thoughts weren’t worth it. And to bid the best goodbye to her husband, she kept him alive using the same sign for which Charlie was always praised. The sign that changed millions of lives and at the same time helped many to survive. What was this one?
His Eyes Never Wandered
There was another man who was equally as broke as Velvet. And he was Tony Del Gatto, the owner of the restaurant where Charlie had been working for years. He says, “He was one of the finest gentlemen I had ever met, ”. Even he recalled what a major help he did through that sign which Velvet used. When everyone talked of that sign in memory of Charlie, then why did contrasting reactions came towards it. What exactly was that?
