The Shepherd’s Pie

Though everything that Anne cooked for John, he would love it. But one of his most favorite dishes was the Shepherd’s Pie. And Anne had even penned down the recipe for the same. After she passed away, John would cook himself the same recipe every Sunday. On one Sunday, he was short on some ingredients for the pie when he went to the Walmart Store. He had no clues what he would face there.

Growing Anxious

Anxiousness was now a part of John. With all the uncertain happenings in his life, he was mostly facing anxiety. That day when he went to store, he picked up the ingredients he needed. It took him about an hour or so to keep everything in the basket. While standing at the cash counter he again grew anxious and in this feeling, he did something clumsy.

The Act

As it was his turn to pay the bill, John took out the wallet from his left pocket and began counting cents. His entire body was trembling. He was quite slow in paying his bill. He was just placing the coins using his left hand on the counter and suddenly a coin fell on the floor. He felt embarrassed as the billing queue was increasing and he was taking too much time. People in the queue were losing patience. He with a shaking voice said “Sorry” and then a lady intervened.

The Cashier

John bends down to pick up the coin but right then the cashier stops him. She picks up the coin and places a hand over John’s hands. “It is alright Sir, you need not be sorry. Take your time, please. Am here to help you.” She helped John count the dollars and pay for the bill. She even says, “we will do it together sir, don’t worry”. But then John looked at the crowd standing behind in the queue who were growing impatient and even asked him to hurry up.

Act Of Kindness

The cashier’s name tag read “Emma”. She calmed John down and passed a big smile to John as she packed up his stuff. She distracts John’s attention from the outraged crowd and said: “Thank You For Shopping With Us, Hope To See You Again”. John was feeling sympathetic about himself and his condition. But then one lady from the crowd wasn’t a similar one.

Spring Herbison

Spring was another customer standing in the queue. But she was a different one. While other customers were annoyed due to the old man’s slow pace, Spring was deeply touched with Emma’s kindness. The way the cashier helped the old man was really a praiseworthy act. And she knew what she was supposed to do next.
