John was five when he had to witness that scene. As he opened the door to his mother’s room he saw that she was lying on the floor. She had her hand in her mouth. While his father was standing tall over his mother. He was scared and did not realize what was happening. Were John’s parents going through a bad marital phase or was it something even worse?
Something Wrong
John asked his mom if everything was fine or not. He was terrified on witnessing a scene this weird. Especially his mother lying on the floor made things worse. His mom got up and wiped her bleeding lip and asked John to leave. When John did not move out, she screamed: “Go outside and play, I’ll be out in a minute.” What was the matter and in what way was it related to his trembling hands?
The Similarity
John never came to know what happened between his parents that morning. Even after questioning his mother, he never got the answers. As time flew he realized that even his father’s hands started to tremble. His hands had somewhere lost the masculinity and the strength they always had. And then the next morning everything came to a still.
Breaking Ties
As John’s father struggled with his trembling hands, one day his rage unleashed over John. It was still bearable but the day when he hit John for the very first time, John’s mother knew that it had also to be his last one. She broke his marriage with him and since then John and his mother had been living alone. John’s happy family and the ideal parents turned out to be an illusion.
Shattered Into Pieces
The broken family had an adverse effect on John. He lost his smile and was left to weep over his dad. He had always looked up to his father and wanted to be like him. But after what all he did to him and his mother, he lost all the faith he had in family ties and relationships. As years passed, John even knew that he won’t marry anyone. But as they say, nothing goes as planned…
New Steps
When John was twenty years old, he received a big shock. His mother passed away due to a cardiac arrest. She was his only family and her loss was the most unbearable one for him. For him, it was as if his world came to an end. He even slid into a depressed phase for a reasonably long period. And just then somebody new tip toed into his life.
