“He was saluting me with his left hand while holding a taco in his right, which is the proper hand to use. So I made him put down the taco and taught him the proper way to salute, which will come in handy if he actually grows up to be a soldier,” said Robert who was equally excited that he was able to meet these nice people.
Calling Their Grandfather
The boys were so sincere that they wanted Robert to tell their grandfather that he treated them with the tacos and they themselves didn’t use the money which they raised for the church for their own purpose.
The Least He Could Do
“My kids were running through my mind the whole time. The thought of my kids in their situation broke my heart, so it made me react and want to help the boys out and the least I could do was buy them some tacos,” said the Lieutenant.
Paying It Forward
The video was posted on youtube and went viral. Robert was “a little embarrassed by all the exposure.” But his kindness touched thousands of hearts. The kids will definitely remember Robert as an angel for a long long time.
Small Gesture Goes A Long Way
“It seemed like a very small gesture I could do for two kids that were trying to make some money in the rain on a school night. So, absolutely it was my duty to at least get them something to eat,” said Robert.
What He Was Raised To Do
According to Robert, he just did “was raised to do.” The world is still in existence only because of people like Robert. People who care for others and know how to empathize with situations like this one.
