Confused As Hell
When they were approaching Robert and Jason, they understood that they were boys, one looked like a teen while another one was much younger. The bigger guy was keeping his hands inside his pocket which made Robert doubt more on him. The guy was literally shaking but because of what? Cold? Fear? Before they could reach the soldier’s table, Robert stood and walked towards them.
Cold And Wet
Robert later told that they were 9 and 13 years old boys. They were cold and wet but what made them walk so far in this stormy weather? Why were they even here when they should actually be sitting at their homes and watching TV right now?
The Question
Before Robert who is currently stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia could ask any of his questions the younger guy asked him a question meanwhile the elder one was taking something out of his pocket. The guy asked the unexpected question and the other one showed him something which finally made Robert take a breath of relief.
Twist Of Scene
The boys asked Robert if he would like to buy anything to help the church located in the same area. Instead of answering their questions, Robert asked them if they had anything for dinner and the kids said no. Also, Robert wasn’t carrying any cash with him. He wanted to do something for the kids. You’ll see what happened next in the video.
Soldier’s Instinct
“They looked like they hadn’t eaten a meal in weeks and had been out in the rain selling their stuff for a while,” Robert later recalled in an interview. Why was he so concerned about these kids? And made him drop all his assumptions in a moment of time?
Good Deeds Make The World Go Around
“I can’t even count the number of times I was cold, wet and hungry in the Army. To sit in warmth and eat some tacos is a big victory for them,” Robert recalled, he was definitely able to put himself in the boys’ shoes. He knew what they were coming from and now he also knew how to help them.
