AnushkaSjogren’s Syndrome
The experts said that Nicole was suffering from a syndrome called Sjogren’s syndrome. The sisters gazed at the doctors in amazement as neither of them has ever heard of it. This was something totally new to them andnd the very obvious question that surfaced then was, “What was this syndrome”?
Immune System Disorder
In medical terms, Sjogren’s Syndrome is an occurrence caused by improper functioning of the immune system. It is a disorder, where the body is unable to produce enough fluids which affect the eyes and mouth. In Nicole’s case, her teeth were particularly affected.
No Saliva
It was observed that Nicole’s mouth was not producing enough saliva due to which her teeth weren’t mineralized and also the anti-bacterial functions which saliva plays couldn’t be met. It was a result of this that all the fillings would melt away and her teeth as well.
Curable?
With all the information coming there way, the only question which the twins had was, “Is this disease curable?” All the time Nicole had been preventing herself from smiling and opening up her mouth, will she be able to do it ever?
Medications
The doctors told Nicole not to worry as they will be giving her medications that would produce the right amount of saliva in her mouth. This will ensure that her teeth are intact and even mineralized naturally. And this wasn’t all. They had more for this pretty woman.
Sigh Of Relief
Nicole and Kimberly had a sigh of relief. Nearly for 10 years, they did not even know what was the matter with Nicole’s teeth and with “The Doctors” show everything came to a beautiful closure.
