A Case Of Mutual Protection

While they became friends instantly by sharing the same circumstances. People watching the duo noticed that they had developed a sense of protection for each other as well. When this fierce wolf would be scared, people noticed that he would often hide behind the elderly donkey. It didn’t take long before the tale of this unlikely friendship spread through the region. It even made it to the news!

ARA Stepped Forward

As the story was making rounds on the news outlets of the country. It managed to grab the attention of some of the animal activists working in that region. Even they were inspired by this unique bond that the both of them have formed but at the same time, they were absolutely disgusted by the living conditions these two had been subjected to.

 Petition To Free Them

These activists started a petition addressing the Albanian president Alfred Moisiu to free both the animals and within a few days, they were able to achieve a breakthrough. After some struggle, the captors ultimately decided to free both the donkey and the wolf. Howbeit, the captor also expressed his wish of owning a zoo, and since he had been seduced by his ambition, the thought of freeing the animal never crossed his mind.

Relocating Both Of Them

Upon receiving the news that the whole village had been keen on watching both the animals breakout in a fight, the animals rights activist became unsatisfied again. “We are working harder than ever now for the freedom of the wolf and relocation for both animals to sanctuary,” read an update on their petition site.

The Petition Went Global

Soon, the activists’ “End their misery – Free this wolf and donkey in Albania” campaign had gone international. Animal enthusiasts and lovers from around the globe answered the call to have the furry friends freed, and within months there were more than 20,000 signs on the petition to the Albanian president.

Against The Law Of ‘Preservation Of Biodiversity’

With such a huge protest coming there way, the Albanian government was forced to act. Eventually, Compelling the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Water Administration to contact the captors and informing him that he had broken several rules. On top of this, the villager’s treatment towards the animal was ‘against the law of ‘preserving biodiversity’.
