After minutes of trying to fly off, the crow was now positioned in the pool within an arm’s length from the bear. Vali leaned over and began pawing at the bird. She had no problem grabbing the crow with a powerful grip.
The Crow’s Impending Doom
With just a swipe Vali targeted at the poor crow. Two questions pop up, was she trying to push down the crow to drown or was she trying to grab hold of it? The crow must be in a heavy panic by now.
Finally Grabbing The Crow
Then finally the bear caught the crow with one grip. “Vali [approached] the side of the pond, and after first attempting to pull it up with [her] paw, [bit] on to the crow’s wing and [dragged] it out of the water,” the Budapest Zoo said later while describing the incident.
All In The Bear’s Hands
All hope went down the drain after this. Since the bird was now too tired, weak, and wet to escape because of its very long effort to fly off, it was now up to Vali to decide the tiny bird’s fate.
Onlookers Were Left Extremely Scared
The crow still mustered up the energy to fight! As soon as the crow was plucked from the water, it made one last effort to save its life—and it pecked the hungry brown bear on the nose. This made the spectators quite alarmed to see the bear’s response.
The Unexpected Response
Just then, the bear did the unpredictable: “She immediately [let] go of the wing, and [retired] to her apples and carrots,” a Budapest Zoo spokesperson explained. Was the bear actually scared?
