The Prisoners’ Well

Here is a well that served the victims of the extermination camp long ago. It was used by the prisoners that used to roam this site and were eventually put to death by the Nazi army. Now it stands as a reminder of the crimes that once took place here at Sobibor. It serves as an evidence of the mass extermination of the Jews and marginalized group of people that lost their precious lives.

An Unfortunate History

It is still a mystery as to how and why such horrific crimes were committed to these innocent people. With that being said, it is fortunate that the bodies of the victims and the prisoners that this place once held captive, can now be found. They can now hold a proper burial and receive the respect that they all deserved. We certainly hope and pray that history never repeats itself…

Here is a look at some of the punishments and torture the Nazis exhibited on the innocent Jews and minorities…

Human Soap

WAR & CONFLICT BOOK ERA: WORLD WAR II/WAR IN THE WEST/THE HOLOCAUST
You must have heard of the claims that the Nazis made Jews use soap that had been produced using the fat of previous Holocaust victims. There had not been a clear evidence of this ever happening but that did not stop the Nazi from spreading this rumor to the prisoners they kept. Their main aim was to bombard their inmates with thoughts of death and doom. It had been proven later that these soaps were manufactured but never used.

Dark Cells And Hunger

There were some victims that were forced to die slow. They were made to stand in a room without any food or water until they withered away. There were so-called “dark cells” that had absolutely no light where the room was sealed, leaving the victims to suffocate on what little oxygen they had in the room. Just imagine having no food, water light, just waiting for your death.

The Experiments

We can never actually get to learn about the details of what took place during the Nazi rule as the records have been ruined or gotten rid of. However, human experimentation was something that all the camps practiced. The inmates were kept in freezing cold water to test hypothermia, injected with chemicals and were exposed to poison, some were sterilized, vivisected, and were operated on without anesthetic too
