“He was very hungry, He scarfed it down,” remembered Paolo in an interview and Resnick further added, “He really liked the fries.” Resnick clicked a photo of the beautiful moment. At that time, they didn’t know that this photo will receive such a big response.

Resnick further shared the photo with Mel Williams, officer Paolo’s wife. The couple had adopted 5 children from the local foster center. So, Resnick started it as a joke that they should adopt one more kid. Later, this photo was posted on the Milwaukee police department’s Facebook page and the response it got from the people was much more than expected.

The photo of the cop with the baby on his lap got more than 4,000 likes and received more than 2,000 shares. People were feeling proud that cops like this exist. They became heroes in no time. But the cops never think of themselves as heroes rather they have a humble approach towards it.

The Humble Cops

Paolo explained, “We don’t want recognition. It’s just what we do because we’re dads, we’re people. We don’t just do it because we’re police officers and it’s our job.” The dad and cop knew how to keep the kid distracted and bring a smile on his face.

Paolo told, “He was playing with my bracelet. My daughter made it for me and I always wear it to work. I was trying to do anything I could to occupy him and kind of take his mind off of what’s going on.” Being parents, both Paolo and Resnick’s heart ached to see the poor condition of kids.

Paolo further added, “It hurts my heart when I see children like this. It’s unfortunate, but we see this quite often.” He is a great man with a kind heart. Their little act of kindness did make a difference in the lives of the little boy and his mother.
