This Is Complicated
Around the 10th week into her pregnancy, the worst hit the women. All four of them, Andrea, Keston and the lesbian couple was at the doctor’s clinic for Andrea’s routine ultrasound. What they assumed to be like any other ultrasound turned into the one which complicated everything.
Severe Complications
In this ultrasound, it was revealed that the baby would be born with some complications. And this was not all. Keston recalls “The doctors made it seem like Delaney was going to be blind [and] have autism.” And this did not end here. The fate had so much more for this little one.
Dicey Situation
The doctors said that it was a case of down syndrome. They further said that” there is a fluid build-up on the back of baby’s neck, it would either kill her, or there would be a severe deformity that would look like another head”. This news came as a shock to all of them. The situation turned into a do or die one, and Andrea had to take a decision that could ruin many lives.
Tensed
Suddenly all the happy smiles seemed to fade away. The situation was critical. Andrea had tears in her eyes. The baby she was about to give birth to would come into this world with so many deformities. But wait, will the baby even see daylight?
5% Chance Of Survival
The doctor even told the women that the baby barely has a 5% chance of survival until birth. This made the scene even worse. However, in the entire discussion, it was Andrea and Keston who were sweating badly and the lesbian couple who were the to-be moms of this child stood still. What followed next from doctor’s mouth broke the few hopes which they all had.
The Only Option
The doctor suggested to them that the only option they had was to think of aborting the child. Andrea’s heart sank. Keston too did not want to take such a step. The intended couple panicked.
