False Alarm
Albion George, the police detective, along with Barbara arrived at the three-story ramshackle house. Barbara’s legs were trembling out of anticipation and fear, after all, she had been searching for her daughter for a long time and this was the closest she was to find her. George and Barbara caught the sight of the most awaited, there stood a thin, brown haired, green eyed woman who screamed at the peak of her voice when George approached to handcuff her. Barbara looked at George and murmured the words of disappointment, “It’s not Hannah!”
An Unlikely Connection
Barbara felt awful because of the distress she had caused to this woman, she also explained it to the woman that she had been looking for her lost daughter. To Barbara’s surprise, the woman admitted that she had seen leaflets with Hannah’s face, “I wish I was her for you,” said the woman. Barbara felt her words deeply and could only wonder if this woman’s mother was searching for her as well.
Open-Ended Questions
It had now been months but there wasn’t a single clue that could lead to Hannah’s whereabouts but logic doesn’t work with emotions, and so Hannah’s mother wasn’t ready to give up just yet. But there was more to this story than the eyes met, it appeared that Hannah had gone missing before, twice, that too under similar conditions. But what exactly were the conditions when Hannah disappeared the other two times?
A Decade Earlier
Before working in the montessari school, Hannah used to work as a Spanish teacher at Thurgood Marshall Academy, Harlem, New york. It was the august of 2008, just a day before the school year was to begin, Hannah went out of her apartment to take a walk. While there’s nothing worrying about taking a walk but what worried everyone was that no one heard from Hannah or saw her for almost 3 weeks.
A Frantic Search
When Hannah went missing for the first time, her friends went to every bus stop and subway and posted leaflets about her disappearance. All her belongings including her passport, cell phone, and wallet lay on the floor of Hannah’s bedroom, but there was nothing concrete that could help find Hannah’s whereabouts. Just when it appeared that Hannah had lost into thin air, the detectives found a footage of a girl who they thought was Hannah. It was after two weeks that the detectives were up to something, they immediately called Barbara Bellus to identify the woman in the surveillance footage they retrieved from an Apple Store.
Peculiar Antics
The footage collected from an Apple store showed Hannah progressing into the store in a black sports bra with her hair tied back like a ponytail. The footage also showed a man approaching Hannah to ask if she happened to be the missing teacher, to which Hannah denied. While another footage showed Hannah trying to log into her e-mail account through one of the store’s laptops. This behavior of Hannah stunned everyone, but sooner they would get to know the reason behind her peculiar behavior.
