Though he was undoubtedly much more well known when he was in the original Star Trek in 1960’s. He definitely deserved it since he was one of the very first Asian actors who didn’t play a stereotypical Asian guy role. Today he is a well know LGBT icon along with being a renowned author. These days he has been seen shifting his focus on human rights.
