Katie fell in love at first sight with the little boy. She immediately told the caseworker that she’ll be adopting the little boy. She called her mother and told about her decision, a spirit of joy was all over the place. Katie counted minutes for the baby to be discharged from the hospital.
Deciding to adopt the baby was just the first part of the story…
The Beginning
Katie reached the hospital before time to pick up the baby boy. The name section of the discharge papers was empty. His mother abandoned him without a name. Katie named the little boy Grayson and took him home. Even when the little boy wasn’t officially adopted, Katie’s parents were there to welcome the new member of their family.
Not So Easy
The first few months were quite hectic for Katie. As she already had the responsibility of fostering one baby when she brought Grayson home. Fortunately, her mother was always there to help her. Meanwhile, Katie had one more important thing to be done.
No Luck
Katie tried all possible ways to know about Grayson’s biological family. She tried giving ads in the newspaper and inquiring at the hospital but nothing seemed to be helping. She tried to ask the nurses as well as the doctors but no one gave any relevant information. At this moment she never thought that she’ll rush to this hospital once again so soon.
No Explanation
The questions that kept on worrying her were that how will she explain it to Grayson, how will she answer his questions, the fact that he was left at the hospital and no one ever returned looking for him. The fear of the future didn’t stop Katie from taking action in her present.
Officially Family
At the time Grayson was 11 months old, Katie adopted him legally. Raising him was completely different from raising the other babies in the past. Grayson suffered from physical as well as mental difficulties from time to time because of drug exposure. So, Katie decided not to foster any more kids. But fate had entirely different plans for her.
