Sadly, this man could not take in two of them so he had to adopt another dog that was in desperate need of a house as well. The people at Rocket Dog Rescue were glad that at least one dog was able to find a new home. However, the chihuahua and pit bull duo became a big concern.

So the staff knew for a fact that they needed to change their advertising about Merrill and Taco. This was going to be a difficult task though. Since the two dogs were not going to let up being adopted alone, they realized they needed to be adopted as a pair.

They cry when they leave each other’s side. This dynamic duo has lost their family, their home, and now we can’t let them lose each other!” to pull in interested adopters.

The picture of Taco peeping out of Merrill’s legs was uploaded and became a popular photo on the internet. The picture perfectly depicted just how close Merrill and Taco actually were. This photo was indeed the main reason as to why the duo became such popular dogs.

The pictures grossed over 14,000 likes, 1,000 comments, and 26,182 in just a matter of days. The shelter was beginning to get a little optimistic on their chance of getting adopted. Many families showed their interest but was it going to be put into action or were they just overenthusiastic social media users?
