The research helped the world to get a glimpse of the mysterious world of these enigmatic animals. Scientists who conducted this research was none other than Dr. Salvatore Cerchio the colleague of Asha de Vos who confirmed the identity of whale they encountered off the shore of Srilanka. As mentioned earlier the research was conducted in the vicinity of Madagascar. From there on the man was considered the expert on Omura’s whale.

Omura’s whale due to their less popularity has always been mistaken for other species. For instance, one of the species they are often mistaken for is Byrde’s whale. This species just like Omura’s whale is not very popular and is usually found in Indo-Pacific ocean.
Never Do They Ever
One of the interesting facts about the Omura’s whale is that they never put their dorsal fins and heads both at the same time out of the water. Furthermore, they never lift their tails out of the water while diving. However, what makes them difficult to come into notice is their unique social trait.

They love space along with that they do not like coming into spotlights. If you are lucky enough to spot them you will see them traveling alone or in the loose group. However, they make sure that they stay in hearing range of each other. Usually, they maintain a distance of many hundred meters apart.
