Food Bait
This time she kept food in a cage! They once again waited for the dog to come and have his share of food. To much of her surprise, it took just 48 hours for the dog to get caught in the trap. Asher had never thought that it would be so easy to catch this dog. She exclaimed, “he was a fairly easy trapping.” Check out the video.
Catching Him
The pup was finally in safe hands. The first thing Asher did after having the dog in her custody was to name him. She christened him ‘Wiley’ while driving towards the shelter and coyotes running after them for their companion.
New Place
Asher took Wiley to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge located in Oakland in New Jersey. The place was going to mark the beginning of new and healthier life of Wiley as he was going to be treated for both his physical injury and social aloofness.
Getting Rid Of The Past
Because of his stay in wild for such a long time, he had caught all the bad habits and things that he could. It was getting difficult for the crew to handle him. He had a lot of problems, to begin with, he had ticks in abundance. So, the volunteers first had to get him rid of all the ticks before taking him to the bathe. It was just the tip of the iceberg!
Found Something Uncomfortable
Once they had him properly cleaned, they decided to examine him medically. The medical reports stated that Wiley was the victim of many diseases. He had anaplasmosis and Lyme disease. He was also anemic owing to Anaplasmosis. The organization needed to find out a way as both the diseases were life-threatening.
Disease
The Lyme disease is caused by ticks in the dogs. The symptoms include lethargy, lameness, fever, and widened lymph nodes. If the disease remains unattended, it can exacerbate kidney damage, or heart or nervous system failure. Fortunately, both the disease Lyme and Anaplasmosis are curable.
