In the beginning, the conservationists thought that this map which looked like “confetti” realized that it wasn’t. They had no idea how to handle the map which was in a very bad condition but with their regular efforts, they were able to achieve their target. They were able to re-live the past with it that held all sort of information in its layers.
The Long Process
The library wanted to finish the restoration as soon as possible and were also hoping that the map would stay in a good condition for years to come. It might seem easy but believe it is not. The experts had to take care of minute to minute details of the map. They knew that if they rushed they might destroy it completely. As they say, slow and steady wins the race, the race for the restoration of the map was finished. And the map looked beautiful.
The Process Was Complete
Finally, their hard work paid off and they were able to restore the map to the best condition they could. Still, there were some finishing touch left and the map soon would be ready to face the world. The map stayed hidden inside the chimney for hundreds of years.
Different Perspective
According to the scholars, the “Chimney Map” would be able to give us more information about the past and more importantly about the 17th century Holland. The detailing on the map are so minute and beautiful that the historians can only stare at this beautiful map. The day when it was first put on for a public appearance that sight was just amazing according to the museum people.
Ready For The Show
The map was restored. It was put on a big wall and was put in a glass-covered display and was ready to face the world. With pride, it hung and people couldn’t take their eyes off from this “ball of old rags.” Just looking it in the image we can see how beautiful it is. However, if you want to see this map in person then you have to spend some money because this map is in Scotland.
Map Is A Treasure
With all the information it holds inside this map has a lot to teach us about the past and for generations to come they would learn about the same past with more detailed information. Scholars are trying their best to keep the map in good condition for years to come. Thankfully, these workers who found it didn’t throw it in the trash.
