The Prophecy
In India, there is a practice that most people follow. Parents would call upon an astrologer to foretell the fate of their newborns so as to get an understanding of what life holds for them. It turns out that the palm leaf that Mahanandia’s mother was holding in her hands bore his prophecy. This was the right time for her to reveal what her son’s prophecy was to him.
Fate’s Plans
The prophecy was that Mahanandia would not have a traditional marriage. He was going to get married to a woman who lives miles away and also born under the zodiac sign of Taurus, who owns a jungle/forest and can play the flute. If ever Mahanandia was hurt, his dear mother would always reassure him about his prophecy and 17 years later, something amazing would occur.
An Outcast
At home, Mahanandia did not feel frustrated or ostracized but when he attended his school, he would constantly be reminded of how inferior and insignificant he was. His school never included him and kept him outside whenever they have the chance. He revealed what he felt during those times saying, “It’s like a skyscraper without the lift. You’re born on one floor and you die on the same floor.”
Falling Into Depression
He was bullied so much to the point where he soon fell into a deep state of depression. As a child, Mahanandia was constantly told that he was going to work with colors and art when he grew up. This really did make sense because he was getting very good at drawing and sketching at a very young age. His father, however, had plans of his own for his boy.
Hopeless
One thing for sure was Mahanandia’s creativity. It was clear from an early age that he bore the ability of creating beautiful art. Since he enjoyed art so much, he was thinking of pursuing it as a full-fledged career. However, just like most parents are, his father was not so pleased about this because he wanted his son to be an engineer. He did not consider art a proper vocation.
A Hard Knock Life
Because of the burden, he felt from society and now his father, Mahanandia felt hopeless. He was so depressed to the point where he went to some train tracks to end his life. He had two failed suicide attempts where firstly the train tracks were too hot and secondly the police sent him home. He felt as though his life was cursed and his prophecy was just a mere memory at the back of his mind.
