The modern Scent Hounds are very much different as compared to the older one. Now they look more chubby, has a curved back and droopier eyes. With time its leg has only shortened. These all qualities altogether makes it incompetent to serve as the hunting companion but they still like to go out and practice its old habit of sniffing. Not just that, their state has only worsened as they have become predisposed to the vertebral disease. They also develop eye problems like entropion and ectropion. Just few time ago only the scientists found out that the reason behind the Basset’s body shape is their growth hormone. They can run incessantly for hours without getting tired. They don’t need anyone else to entertain themselves, they are more than enough to do so all by himself.
Bull Terrier: Then
The Bull Terrier is the result of the crossing between Old English Bulldog and Old English Terrier. They hold the tenacity of Bulldog and speed of Terriers. The breed is very active by nature and it is so because the dog was bred to fight. So basically, it was a fighting dog that has received strength and tenacity from the parent Bulldog and super speed from the Terrier. Bull Terrier itself has been crossed and recrossed with many other breeds. Some of them include the Dalmatian, the Whippet, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Contrasting to its ordinarily friendly and well-mannered nature towards other dogs and children, the breed is very aggressive when it steps into the fighting competitions. They are independent and stubborn both.

Well, it won’t take you much trouble to find out that the dog does not have “stop” on its nose that makes the dog have its famous “egg shape” face. The other difference is that it now has wider, lower-hanging belly and more teeth. This breed too is affected by several diseases unlike its nineteenth-century ancestor, some of them include deafness that is found widely in white Bull Terrier, skin infection by insect bites and rashes. It also has a very strange mental condition of chasing its own tail. Nonetheless, they have many qualities of their precursor. Chow Chow: Then
Chow Chow takes the title of being one of the oldest dog breeds. You may think that it was the Shepherds or Huskies that has a close relationship with wolves but the fact is that it is the Chow Chow that shares an intimate kinship with them, that is what the recent D.N.A analysis says. If we talk about its origin than it is believed that this breed was originated in Asia, most precisely, northern China and are called Sangoshi Quan. They were used as guard dogs, attack dogs, hunting dogs and also as a food. There are a number of dog statues built in China.Those statues resemble the figure of Chow Chow. So, it is believed that those statues are of none other than Chow Chows. It is also one of those ancient dogs that survived centuries of breeding.

Chow Chows are very famous for sharing similarity with lions. It is because of their mane-like fur that makes it look like the lion. There is one more reason why its mane is important as it is only the feature that differentiates it from the denser and longer coat of today’s Chow Chows. Another feature that has evolved over the time is their smaller snout that has more skin than the older one. Apart from them, Chow Chows has not come up with many changes. They also are very protective towards their owner and does not like to meet strangers. However, they are very prone to autoimmune disease, hip dysplasia, melanoma. They also have eye diseases such as entropion and glaucoma. They have a stubborn attitude.
Austrailian Cattle Dog: Then
Austrailian Cattle Dog is the result of many experiments. Their origin dates back to the time when settlers got into Austrailia they brought their livestock and sheepdogs to bear their burden. But these dogs could not bear the weight that made the settlers think about breeding a more capable dog. Then, Timmins, a man bred a more efficient dog but it took a long time to reach the perfect model. One day the breeders mixed dingoes with blue merle collies. It was not the desirable combination but somewhat nearer to perfection. It was only after 1870, that the breed got mixed with Dalmatian resulting in Austrailian dog. They are well toned and muscular dogs with wide foreheads.
