Factual Findings
When the Larsen Sheets were studied in depth, there were revelations that the Antarctic is huge beyond comprehension. The broken melted ice has the ability to house several marine life that can adapt to the changing climate or condition these ice caps undergo. This land of ice has gone through so many physical changes right under our very nose and it is high time we pay attention.
Variety Of Life
Throughout the year the Antarctic is filled with snow all over and the freezing temperatures is a norm. Still, there are dramatic changes occurring in the sea. The vast marine life undergoes change every season and all-new algae manifest. Reproduction all depends upon the season for these organisms. The newly discovered ecosystem is something that is driving scientists wild.
The Two Worlds
New life under the thick and presumably lifeless ice sheet is learning to adapt to the outside world. These life forms will slowly deal with the reality of having to survive without the ice and only time will tell what comes out of it. They have shown no signs of being capable of surviving both under or above the sea. So what physical traits do these living beings have then?
Ever-Changing Organisms
Since the scientists need to know more about these organisms, the ice had to be broken to learn more about these mysterious species. These creatures are phytoplankton and zooplankton at the same time. They can drift along with the water currents and merge with existing planktons to form food that is something that marine life basically feeds on.
Antarctic Air
To say this land is full of wonder species would be an understatement. The complexity of the land itself combined with the marine life is indeed an interesting topic of study. These organisms absorb energy from the sun and nutrients from the water. They then give out molecular oxygen in the process. About 50-85% of the world’s population lives off of this oxygen
Dubious Creatures
Susan has matched these newly discovered beings as being similar to seabirds, marine mammals that are known to be delicate species. Some varieties of invertebrates have also been discovered. All these new discoveries have made scientists question if all of this will lead to the manifestation of an all-new biodiversity. Do you agree with this prediction?
