Charlie’s Two-Year Long Wait
Charlie had spent two years in Spotsylvania Animal Shelter located in Virginia, with no hopes of getting adopted in the near future. Although 2 years is not that long a time in comparison to humans, it is an immense amount of time for our canine counterparts. But the good news was not far off for the cute pooch…
A Love That Transcends Distances
Jason Davis, who had grown up close to the shelter, had decided to adopt Charlie! Just like Joel Carpenter, who famously traveled more than 1,000 miles to pick up his four-legged friend, Charlie’s new owner found himself in a similar situation. He drove hundreds of miles from Pennsylvania to pick up the dog!
Caretaker Gets Sentimental
One particular animal services worker was especially excited for the pooch “It’s finally happening, and especially when you get so attached to dogs,” Ashley Hamilton – staff at Spotsylvania Animal Shelter – told WTVR. “It’s just huge,” she added. “Sorry,” she apologized as she fought back tears saying “It’s just really exciting.”
Long Distance Affair
And more traveling is on the cards for the newly formed duo, due to Jason’s profession. Davis is a boatmaker who personally delivers the boats to his customers, and now he will have an excellent sidekick by his side for his travels!
To Be Spoilt
“It was love at first sight,” Davis said, recalling their first meeting. “He is going to be spoiled rotten. He’ll get to see the country. He’ll be in the ocean tomorrow.” He added: “That’s one of the reasons I did take him because I knew how much he was loved here.” For a dog who had only seen the confines of his shelter for the past two years, this was lifechanging!
Next, on the list, we have an oldie, a whopping 17-year-old dog, who was adopted by a couple after visiting his shelter…
Rocky’s Long Wait
There is a popular saying that goes, ‘ Every dog has its day’ and no saying was more fitting for this old dog who had to wait 17 years (you heard that right, 17 years!) before he could finally have his happy ending…
