Carla and Gladys were no rookies, they knew the rules of the game and how it’s played. Over the last 3 decades, they had witnessed it all, or say they thought so. They had come across things that would have had most people pack their bags and leave but the exceptional duo always emerged stronger than ever. However, this time things would be a lot more different than what they had experienced in their past.

While the speculations were still on and both the sisters were scratching their heads wondering the sight they would bump into once they get past the door of 148 Jane street. Despite all the anticipations, there was absolutely nothing the real estate agents Carla and Gladys could do to compose themselves for the bolt out of the blue that lied behind the door of 148 Jane Street. But first and most importantly, they would have to visit Joyce.
Behind The Door
The two siblings were the ultimate duo having spent almost 30 years in the business. They knew the Toronto area as they lived there. The two had made a career by selling and buying properties in the elite neighborhoods of Canada’s biggest city. There were times when they didn’t even break a single sweat and the place would practically sell on its own but was it going to be another walk in the park for the two sisters? The phone call with Joyce had only made them dubious and it was finally the time to go and look for themselves. Knock! Knock! It’s inspection time.
Ready To Part
While their conversation with Joyce over the phone call had only puzzled Carla and Gladys it also dropped them an interesting hint as to what the surprise about the property was. Joyce was a 96-year-old woman and she was quite communicative for her age, and what’s more impressive was that she had a perfect hearing. Carla felt nostalgic, replaying the old conversations she had with her grandmother and how she had to yell at the peak of her voice to make herself understood. Hence, Carla was quite amazed and impressed with Joyce at the same time but this would be nothing compared to what awaited them at Joyce’s place.
Untouched Secrets
The news about what made the place so unique hadn’t broken yet but the speculations had begun to warm up. The place looked quite ordinary and much like all the other buildings in the vicinity but a book is not to be judged by its cover, right? Joyce had been living there for almost as much as 70 years and it had not been renovated since then, except the kitchen which was once remodeled to meet the modern day standards. Both the sisters feared that the property could be in shambles making it nearly impossible to sell.
The Shape Of It All
Both the sisters were terrified by the thought of what chaos they might bump into when they walk through the front door of 148 Jane street. It was obvious for them to assume that a 96-year-old woman must have been living in a mess and couldn’t have taken proper care of the place without anyone to help her. Their worst nightmare was stepping into a house that could be nothing but a scrapyard, with useless items over the past 70 years spread across the place.
