They are exceptionally good at racing and even for jumping. The horses are different from other breeds because of their athletic and slender body. They are also one of the tallest breeds of horses. The American Miniature horses are known to be gentle and very kind. If you want to see them for yourselves, you can find them in America and Europe. The origin of this particular breed of horses can be dated as early as the 1600s. Most of these horses are 34 to 38 inches tall. So, their small size makes them the perfect breed to keep as pets by the nobility. They often help workers in coal mines as well. In recent times, these horses can be seen as driving horses and service animals.

Appaloosa

This particular breed of horses actually came into knowledge after the Nez Perce Native American tribe in the Pacific Northwest began using them. Today they are very popular in both North America and Europe. An Appaloosa’s coat resembles that of a cheetah because it has several colors. These horses mostly weigh about 950 and 1200 lbs. They are very strong so most of them are used as stock horses, pleasure mounts, etc. They have a big built but their manes and tails are comparatively small.

These horses are also the state animals for the state of Vermont. Morgan horses are well known for their ability to adapt to their environment and for their size. Most of these horses have a very muscular body and a small head. The colors of this breed mostly range from chestnut, black to bay.

Tennessee Walker

The Tennessee Walker came into existence in the United States around the 18th Century. These horses were mostly used in farms and on plantations. They were also used to cover long distances in the Civil War. They are mostly bay, black, chestnut, sorrel and white in color. They are known for their gaudy behavior and their four-beat “running walk” that completely separates them from other breeds. They also take part in a lot of competitions everywhere.

Warmblood

The Warmblood horse breed was first produced in the European continent. Just like many other horses on this list, this horse was an outcome of breeders trying to create the perfect horse for themselves. These horses are a mix of the different breeds including the Hanoverian, Holsteiner, Oldenburg, and Trakehner. They have been used in the Olympic games for jumping and dressage. They are one of the most common horse used when it comes to competitions.
