There is yet another reason why these horses played such an important role in the lives of the Teke tribes in olden days. These horses were actually camouflaged while battling tribes in the deserts of Turkmenistan. The shimmering fur of the Akhal-Teke would blend in perfectly with the sands of the scorching desert. This, in turn, made it hard for the enemies to spot them during their battles. In the end, the Teke tribes could successfully raid other tribes with ease.

Monumental Horse

Turkmenistan does not hold back on their pride regarding these horses. If it were any other country, we are sure they would gladly flaunt them too. The strength of these gorgeous horses is truly admirable and impressive.  They have been kept in many parts of the country of Turkmenistan. If ever you get to visit the country, you will find a lot of their statues and monuments being plastered in and around the cities. The monument here can be seen at the center of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Just look at how heavenly just the statues are. So you can imagine just how beautiful the real deal must be.

The Akhal-Teke has cemented its reputation as a well-known warhorse in history. Back in the year of 1935, these horses had allegedly carried a group of Turkmen riders covering a whopping 2500 miles in just a matter of 84 days. They took these men crossing the harsh desert terrain from Ashgabat to Moscow. This impressive achievement happened where there was a 3 day period where 235 miles of the desert had been crossed without drinking a single drop of water. If this is not proof that these horses are truly efficient, then what will?

With such an impressive history, it is not so surprising to hear about all the praises that this breed of horses gets from people. They even hold a sense of admiration from the Turkmen tribes. Even the Empires that stay close to the Turkmen tribe have given their word of appreciation regarding these golden war hero horses. In 1881, the Russian General Kuropatkin of the Russian Empire saw these horses in action and was completely mesmerized to the point where he wanted to own them too. We do not blame him one bit because these horses are indeed irresistible.
