What Vernita Says

Oprah Winfrey mother

Vernita finally broke her silence after being asked the same question again and again. The woman who put Patricia up for adoption in 1963, said,  “I thought it was a terrible thing that I had done.” “I did think about the baby. I went back looking for her and they told me she had left,” she continued. And it was while giving an answer to the same question that she said something that made Patricia cry.

It’s Cute!

Patricia Lofton

The interview gave Oprah’s fans an opportunity to know more about her personal life. She called Patricia “cute little girl.” The compliment really touched her heart for two reasons. Firstly, compliments of this kind was not a common thing to her. Secondly, the words came straight from her biological mother that meant a lot to her. She expressed her ecstasy, “I am just trying to take it all in right now because I never heard that I was a pretty baby.” heer good time had just begun. Soon she was going to get the biggest surprise of her life.

Gift From Sister

In 2014, just three years after her appearance on “Oprah Winfrey’s talk show,” Patricia Lofton life took another beautiful turn when her sister gifted her a house worth half a million-dollar in Wisconsin. Not only that, Oprah gave her a monthly allowance to make her dream of going to college and become a social worker come true.

Fulfilling The Dream

Patricia enrolled herself in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She believes it became only because of her sister who helped her at every step of her life. But Oprah’s surprises to her was not over yet. She gave Patricia another big surprise on her graduation day. When the 53-year-old Loften was attending her graduation day, she saw someone cheering for her. It was her half-sister, Oprah.
