One Reason Why
One reason could be the involvement of Oprah in the matter. The moment was going to be special as Patricia and Vernita were going to meet as a mother-daughter for the first time. However, there was one more meeting special than this one that was on the horizon.
Face To Face
The special meeting between Patricia and Oprah was going to take place on Thanksgiving at their mother’s place. Patricia was so enthusiastic to meet her half-sister that she reached the place an hour before. Finally arrived the moment when the two came face to face. In the first meeting, only Oprah told Patricia “You look just like Pat!” The two showed their affection by hugging each other tightly.
Knowing Each Other
The two spent the whole afternoon together. There was so much to know about each other. Oprah described those moments by saying, “It was a Beloved moment,” taking reference from a movie in which a daughter comes back to her family from death. Oprah adored and respected her not only because she is her sister but also because of another reason.
Best Thing Happened
Patricia Lofton was experiencing the biggest and best change of her life. She just had found her mother and a popular and lovable sister. Initially, Patricia was doubtful about Oprah’s reaction on finding out and was utterly surprised when her half-sister accepted her happily. According to Oprah, the woman had just not won her love but respect too. Now the question is what Patricia exactly did that made Oprah respect her even more?
Sisterly Love
Oprah was amazed to see the loyalty of her newfound sister. Patricia could easily have cashed on the popularity of Oprah. She could have sold her story to the press and would have achieved immense publicity in return. Instead of that, she kept it to herself. Oprah said, “There have been few times I’ve been anywhere and I haven’t been sold out.” “There have been few times where you can bring anyone new into your life and not have that person in some way betray you or use you or take advantage of you,” she added.
The Question!
The family was united and everything was falling into the place. But there was still one question that irked them a lot. It was why their mother despite knowing the reality kept denying? Even though she was well aware of the reality and was asked about it a number of times, she continued calling it a lie until the evidence was produced before her. What was the reason that she kept denying even when Oprah asked her about it? Well, there was a reason behind it.
