The Generous One
The couple donated their money whole heartedly. They believed that they should pay back to those who invested in them. Hence, they started funding the civic projects taking place in Camden point, Missouri that happens to be the hometown of Mark. They were doing it all without expecting any profit in return.
Talk Of The Town
Walt Stubbs a former high school friend of the Hills revealed the nature of the Hills family to the HuffPost. He said “They are very conservative people,” He continued “They are doing some really nice things for the community and they’ve taken care of their family.”
Building The Image
That was just the beginning of their social services. They launched a new fire station laced with many new facilities. It was made spacious enough to house several ambulances. The station also facilitated a direct connection to the main roads, unlike the old stations. They also offered. The building was made energy efficient and had living quarters.
Paying Back
Mark has a soft corner for firefighters as his father was rescued twice by the people of this fraternity. That incident generated a sense of respect for them, in him. And when he found himself capable of paying back, he did. Stubbs said, “It’s a situation where if we had to do it ourselves, it would take 25 years,”.
Writing The History
Mark is evidently very proud to be a part of that. He while discussing the status of the 24-7 manned ambulance services makes a point asking “How many towns of 500 people have an ambulance service that’s manned 24-7? Very few. I’m proud to be part of that.”
Charity Continues
The Hills continued to surprise others with their act of generosity. They gave away $50,000 for the welfare of the community and also funded new ball field. Their money bought a land for the making of a new sewage treatment plant for the people. It meant that now the people will be free to quit their individual septic tanks. Their stories of generosity reached the mayor of Camden Point who could not help but express his surprise.
