A Coat And A Note
They even thought about sending the jackets to the anchor. So, just over two weeks after her husband’s death, that was exactly what Connie did. The Colorado resident jumped in her car and drove to the studio. She left the coat with a note to a staff member.
Making Its Way To the Host
One day Connie got an email. Clark had received the coat. You see, it just so happened that the Larsons’ story had landed in the news anchor’s lap at the perfect moment. The host was actually planning on taking up an issue such as this.
Clark And The Coat
As of December 27, 2017, Clark told Connie that he would include Doyle’s coat to his own collection. What’s more, he also promised to wear it on the show that very evening. This was not all actually.
A Few Conditions
Clark encouraged his viewers to make donations to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). There was one more catch, anyone donating in Doyle’s name would be in with the chance to win one of Clark’s jackets.
Who Is Getting His Coat?
Clark explained that even his own wife gave him a “one-in-one-out” rule. Every time he got a new jacket, an old one would have to go. And so, the host told his viewers that over the next 24 hours, everyone who donated in Doyle’s name was a contender to receiving Clark’s coat.
Donations Under Doyle’s Name
The ABTA was overwhelmed with donations after the show. Two-thirds of all donations were under Doyle’s name. And as Connie later explained to the Denison Bulletin & Review, she was sure that her husband would have loved it. “I think Doyle would get a real kick out of it if he were here,” Connie said.
