The Warning
Giving the recurring deaths in almost the same year, Pete Kassetas of the New Mexico State Police had to call a press conference to tell people about the dangers of undertaking the quest and to sternly request/ask Fenn to issue a statement to withdraw the whole adventure. This was a serious hazard but would Fenn do as asked?
Making Things Safer
Instead of calling the whole quest off this is what Fenn did. He gave out more clues to people on his blog, details which told them that the chest was not at a risky location- he did it in order for people to be safe. He also asked the hunters to not go looking for the treasure in winters as the grounds are slippery.
Meant No Harm
It is needless to say that Forrest Fenn did not mean for people to die. He even gave $9,000 to search for a person who went missing while searching for the treasure. Despite knowing all the danger, treasure hunters have not stopped seeking the Fenn’s treasure.
Life Of Quest
The quest of Fenn’s treasure has gained a lot of popularity on the internet. There are numerous blogs and Facebook pages devoted just to the discussion of the clues and theories. There are explorers who have shared their experiences and the followers of these pages are in thousands.
The Competition
As of today, more than a quarter million people have been to the Rocky Mountains looking for the Fenn’s treasure and even though they share their experiences it is no knowing if they have the purpose of helping each other in mind because let’s face it- who doesn’t want to be the first one to reach it?
The Treasure Is Metaphoric?
One of the interpreters of Fenn’s poem believes that the treasure is not something physical. According to her, the way she understood the clues- it led her to the Christ of the Mines Shrine in Silverton, Colorado! So is the treasure really spiritual?
