Hardly, an hour had passed by when Josie’s mom got a call. She picked it up only to hear someone cry on the other end. It was Josie. She could clearly hear her crying even though the girl tried to muffle her voice. She asked Josie what was the matter.
Entry Denied
The school administrator had banned her from going inside because of the see-through cutouts on her dress. They suggested her to either don Christian’s jacket or buy a belt from the nearest Walmart. Well,both of the options did not make any sense to Josie and Christian.
Choices Given
In Rebecca’s words, “She said, ‘Mom, they won’t let me in the prom because of my cutouts — I either have to wear Christian’s jacket all night or walk 40 minutes to Walmart and buy a belt.’” It was indeed unexpected as they had already confirmed it with the staff.
Guidelines
Wayne Cooks, the superintendent explained, “Central Private is a Christian based school and we have guidelines that we ask all our students and their dates to meet.” “No cut-outs that show skin in the mid-section will be allowed.”
Done On Purpose?
Rebecca also stated that the authorities did not let Josie in because she was not from Christian’s school. She explained by referring to Christian, “He said girls wearing more revealing dresses were allowed in and it wasn’t fair,” “I feel they treated Josie unfairly because she doesn’t attend Christian’s school,” doubted the mother.
Not Fair
Surprisingly, only Josie was told not to participate in dance when there were many other girls too who had not followed the dress code. Surprisingly, none of them were banned from entering the dance. This was unfair. Josie could not hold her tears as she had made so many efforts to not to violate the dress code.
