Matter Went Out Of Hands

For two days, Hubert kept the bad news to himself. But the area is spread for over 6,700 acres and certainly, Hubert cannot find Austin all alone. He reached back to the base camp area and contacted the local authorities and police. The most difficult part was telling Brooke about her son.

Disappointed Mother

Brooke felt disappointed in her husband, Hubert. After all, it was his responsibility to take care of Austin and bring him back home safely. She was worried and wanted to do something for her son. But what could she possibly do about it? Her nights were restless and her days were all spent at the National park waiting for her son to appear out of the woods but nothing happened.

Authorities Take Action

Steve Kloster, Chief Ranger at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park started a mission to search for Austin and you won’t believe how huge a search operation they had started. They left no stone unturned.

Helicopters

Several helicopters took off daily to search for the missing boy. Even the infrared lights didn’t help in finding the boy. The forest now turned into a search area and many canine units from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency too got in to help the mission. Sadly, so many efforts had gone in vain.

Volunteers Walked In

More than 100 volunteers reached the national park to look for the boy. In the extreme temperature of 90-degrees, they were going into the dense Smoky Mountains just to find Austin. With each passing day the possibility of his return was decreasing and yet the search went on for over a week.

The Family’s Effort

Austin’s mother was always there providing the volunteers with the snack and drinks to keep their morale high. Austin’s friends and siblings were praying for his safe return but where was he? Was he into some trouble?
