As we have told you that the lake has been hiding several mysterious deep inside its heart and over the decades there have been some really weird sightings and people have spotted several intriguing objects. You might have heard about the Loch Ness lake which is famous for its alleged monster. The monster even has a name which is given by the locals. It is called Nessie. Back in 2013, there were rumors about a base that was located under Lake Ontario. It was the same spot where the researchers would start their exploration. There were rumors about a base which was being run by aliens. Though the team wasn’t there to check the alien base which they know couldn’t be a reality as the world hasn’t reached at that stage yet. Mysterious Lake Ontario
Lake Ontario is the fifth largest lake in North America. This lake is so vast that it has shore both in the U.S and Canada. Ontario Province is spread in the west, south-west, and north of the lake and New York City falls on its eastern and southern shores.
A Huge Deal
If talking in terms of size there are only 12 huge freshwater lakes in the whole world. Lake Ontario falls in the easterly side of the Earth which makes it the smallest among all. The lake covers some 7,500 square miles and, approximately, the waters are 280 feet deep. It’s the Niagara River that fills the lake with the majority of its fresh water.
Back In The Past
As time passed, the Wisconsin ice sheet started to melt which was the reason behind the shape of the lake we see today. Due to the ice shift in the past, the landscapes around the lake is in abundance with geological features such as kames, moraines, and drumlins. In layman’s terms, the area has a lot of hills, ridges, rocks, gravel, and sand deposits.
Lake Ontario In The Present
Some 11,000 years ago the Ice Age saw its last stage, the lake we see today was located in Atlantic bay. But due to the land expansion which was covered with tons of weight of ice, the lake was born. In fact, you’ll be surprised to know that the land around St. Lawrence is growing at a rate of 12 inches with each centuries passing.
