Switching On
He took it out immediately and switched it on international roaming. The man hardly found a signal. But fortunately, the signal was strong enough to do what he did next. Was it going to help?
A Help?
Mikey stated, “I got it and turned on international roaming and just barely got signal.” Making a call in such a low signal would have proven futile and so he decided to make an SOS on Facebook. He posted, “Help. In danger. Call police.” The man had given his best shot and now all he could do was to wait.
Popular
The popularity of social media is growing by leaps and bounds. It has surely shrunk the world into a small village where we can contact anyone from anywhere. As the man had many friends on social media his post got seen by many people.
Message Reached
Aimee Sparks was one of his friends that read his post. They both had met in Seattle in 2004. In 2014, the duo has traveled to Nepal. “I saw Mikey’s post just a minute or two after it went up. I work remotely and tend to have Facebook open while I work. I saw it and of course was startled and a bit surprised,” She said.
No Idea
At first, Sparks could not understand what to do. “I worried that he had been drugged or kidnapped or something.” “I went on his FB page and was going to send him a message when I realized that there is a call option now, so I called him. I think I was the first person to actually talk to him.” Sparks called him and realized he was going to make it happen.
It Is Him
His SOS got viral. “It was great that I talked to him because some people were worried that his phone had been stolen or that his account had been hacked. And I was able to say, I know his voice and I know it is him, that he is very badly injured and needs help,” Sparks revealed.
