Man’s Driveway Leads To A Historic Discovery After His Car Would Not Budge

As it turned out, there was an incident of this sort that had already taken place in England before. Several hours south-side from Marks’ house, in a place called Plymouth, a couple had made a discovery that was truly epic. They uncovered a medieval well that had been hiding under their living room. This was allegedly built by none other than Sir Francis Drake’s servants.

So who were this couple that uncovered this medieval well? The Steers grew curious because there was something about their house that was not quite right. They had always been interested to know the reason behind some portions of their living room floor was dipping. This curiosity piqued when Colin Steer retired so he proceeded towards digging it up. He even found a sword in the well…

Not A Silly Discovery

Also, there was something even grander than the discovery of this medieval well. This other discovery took place very nearby to Marks’ town. In fact, this huge discovery took place in the same year that Marks started to dig up what was on his driveway. There was a guy from Wiltshire, England who had discovered a part of a mosaic that was kept under the floor of his barn.

So as soon as this was informed to the archaeologists, they immediately came to hold an investigation. So what did they find out? Well, there was a large floor of an impressive Roman villa, that possibly belonged to an emperor. Discoveries such as this that happened so close to home had sparked an inkling in Marks to hopefully discover something wonderful too…

Dad Finally Reaches

So after Simon’s father reached, Simon informed him about everything that he had so far uncovered. He was quick to show his dad the ladder that came from down below. Then the father-son duo proceeded towards digging up to hopefully find something more. They cleared the driveway, getting rid of a truckload of mud. Simon was shocked to learn that there was a well-buried secret hidden under his home all this while.

A DIY Project

Since the two of them did not own any machine or tools, they had to do the work with their bare hands. They slowly excavated the space with the help of a shovel and buckets. Their work was slow but the pile of mud grew more and more after they worked continuously. The space that they dug around grew bigger and bigger too. Marks’ father slowly understood what they were digging up…
