While some were trying to justify Peter’s story, there were still many people who were skeptical of Peter’s story. They could not believe that someone could have possibly survived so long on their own in a car. Later it was discovered that Peter had come under a lot of debt before he apparently disappeared. His neighbors also told that Peter’s girlfriend also used to live with him but not too long before his disappearance she ran away.
Difficult Financial Times
Previously, Peter had worked for a local landlord as a handyman in the town known for its iron manufacturing. Peter was even given a flat by his landlord to live in. Unsatisfied with his current situation, Peter tried to change things up by buying a block of the apartment. Unfortunately for him, this is where his troubles began as the court ordered to seize his property when he was not able to pay the debt of $1.6 million in time.
Escaping His Problems
With a crumbling love life on top of a mountain of debt, it isn’t very difficult to see why Peter decided to leave everything and began a new life. But bad luck seemed to have stuck with him as he almost got killed doing so. Now comes the question of how Peter, who was just one mile away from civilization when he got stuck, was unable to break free from his car to seek help.
Willingly Trapped Himself?
From the spot his car was recovered, one could easily hear plenty of snowmobiles revving through. Which implies that people weren’t exactly away from his reach and if he really wanted to, with a little effort he could have attracted the attention of people passing through. Even one of the police present during the rescue of Peter claimed that he himself could easily escape the car if he wanted to.
Something Appeared Strange
“It wasn’t snowed in. Not the right passenger door…If you look at the back door, on the left side, it was very compacted snow, but on the right side, it was very loose snow,” Andreas Gidlund told the news. Even the car’s door looked as if it had been opened very often. So It wouldn’t be incorrect to assume that they had been in use all this time while it was snowing.
