He Was Always A Loner
Though Sic tried to provide insight to police regarding Peter’s possible whereabouts, she was next to no help for them in this matter. It was a well-known fact that Peter was a loner even before he had disappeared. Even when Sic would babysit him over thirty years ago, she noticed that he would rarely play with his five siblings.
“Trapped In A Crazy Place”
Police were hard at work looking for Peter, by this time he had become famous for living in his car. Because of the fact that he had no permanent residence and spent most of his time in his car, he could possibly be anywhere at this point. Looking for someone who doesn’t want to be found can get really tricky. But after two months of search, they were able to find his car “trapped in a crazy place”
His Cave
It was found miles away from the forest where he would usually live in, to make the matters worse the temperature was dipping below -22ºF. Police at that point had lost any hope of finding him alive. When two men processed to open Peter’s car where they found his emaciated body. Fortunately, he still had a pulse. The insides of his car were coated in snow along with old paper cups, used tissue and cigarette packets.
Surviving On Cigarettes And Beer?
Along with all the trash, they also found some empty bottle of beer, some rolling tobacco along with a homemade pipe. While looking around in his card they came across camping pans, rolls of kitchen towels and a sleeping bag. Though everything pointed at this being an attempt at suicide as it looked like Peter wanted to die from the cold. But Peter had something else to say.
Trapped For Two Months
Peter explained to the cops that he had been stuck in his car since the 19th of December, and this did sound like it had some hints of truth in it since he was very frail when they had finally found him. But the question that arose from this statement of Peter’s is that how is it possible for a man to survive in a snowed-in car for 2 months?
“A Natural Igloo”
Doctors came out with a hypothesis that over the period, Peter had been trapped in his car, the air trapped around his car must have formed a natural igloo. And if Peter was wearing warm clothing along with sleeping in his sleeping bag. It would have made the entire feel more like an igloo. But how did he fend off starvation for all this time?
