It was indeed a wise step as trusting the former one would have been life risking. Sims already had one ladder in his house and so he decided to make use of that.

For reassurance, he went through the blueprint for one more time and on a closer look, he realized that the shelter he had just discovered was nothing but a bomb shelter that had been built decades ago. Perhaps the creator of the shelter made it to protect himself from on-going war or any catastrophe.
The Starting Of Revelations!
Sim’s previous occupation helped him a lot. He had worked in the fire department and the experience of rescuing people had come in handy in this exploration. Many would have found the inside suffocating but Sims and his friends did not bother to get troubled by that. Once they got down they paced ahead.
A Better View
The structure was nothing short of a wonder. It was a true example of the fact that buildings too can withstand the inclemency of time. Every nook and cranny of the shelter was in proper condition given the fact that it was located many feet down the ground. Whoever had built this one thing was sure the person must have owned meticulous constructing skills. This dome-shaped shelter had impressively arched doorways. The explorers were all amazed by their discovery and went further.
To The Ceiling
However, there was some part that was withering away. One of them was the surface of the ceiling. The fiberglass glued to the roof was falling apart that would have proved dangerous for the visitors. In order to go further, they needed to fix the ceiling. One more thing the time was ticking by and they had to wrap the exploration as fast as they could. Without a doubt, a slight touch of the fiberglass to the skin had the potential of causing great harms.
Removed It
They decided to fix it. The group took the fiberglass off the ceiling as clear in the picture. Immediately after removing the fiberglass another idea dawned upon them. They got an idea of renovating and remodeling the entire structure. Despite the fact that the shelter was in good condition it did needed some renovation.
