Fisherman Spotted
Salter further explained, “Hutt, who is a fisherman and one of our regulars, spotted the baby. [They brought the baby to us], we wrapped him up in towels and Sue went to inform the baby’s parents.”
First Night
Rebecca said, “Apparently the baby had been very excited to be on the beach. It was the couple’s first night staying here. It’s the first time they’ve been here.”
News Spreads Fast
The story soon got viral. Whoever heard this story called it a miracle. One person commented, “Gus was where God wanted him to be.” Another comment read, “His guardian angel was on duty for sure!” These were few of the comments but not all of them were in good taste.
Harsh Criticism
There was a group of people who held the couple responsible for the happening of the tragedy. They believe that it was because of his parents’ careless behavior he managed to slip out of the camp. Some even expressed their doubts over how a small kid like Malachi successfully unzipped the tent and went out without disturbing his parents. Jessica responded in her own way to all these criticisms.
Important Advice
Se said, “Zip your tents up. And zip them up nice and high if you’ve got a child that can reach. Put them on a padlock. We wouldn’t let him run into the water on his own. People can have those [judgmental] thoughts. They can think we’re bad parents.”
A True Hero
Hutt was indeed an angel for Malachi. Even the thought of what would have happened to Malachi had Hutt not saved him in time gives us a chill. Sometimes, being curious is a good thing. The man spotted that “porcelain doll” and decided to gift it to his wife. He actually gave the gift to Malachi’s parents.
