Being stuck in the dense Peruvian Amazon brought so many surprises for her. The animals weren’t scared of her presence but this was worrying. Generally, animals react to human presence but when they don’t it could be a sign that there were no humans nearby.
Walking Lunch
Every time she tried to sit down, she realized she wasn’t alone. The forest surface was covered with ants. They were almost everywhere. Her body was covered with ant bites. And her open wounds seemed like a feast to insects. Whenever she stopped, she was bitten by mosquitoes and flies.
Other Passengers
Four days after walking through the jungle, Juliane came around a part of the plane she was on; it was a row of seats. Passengers that were strapped weren’t alive. There was a Christmas cake fallen nearby, sadly, it was wet and covered in mud, and obviously, ants had already accepted it as their food. To save her there was a bag of lollipops that were still packed. She took it and walked but how long was this going to keep her alive?

Right after she crossed the crash site, she heard the sound of water. She knew that many Peruvian people live nearby water resources for easy availability of water. But she also knew that all the wild animals head to these spots to quench their thirst. And her guess was right.
Follow The Water
It was one of her father’s lessons that every water body connects to a lake or river and these water bodies can lead to human civilization. In hopes to get to a large water body, she was following the sound of water. The time she was supposed to cross the water stream was one of the toughest.
Wading Blind
Before getting inside the water, she picked up a long stick and poked it into the water to prevent herself from the electric eels, and deadly stingrays. This trick worked for her. Unfortunately, the dirty water was making her wounds worse.
