When Predictions Miss The Mark

Greg Wilkinson made lots of prediction and not all of them were right. There were some who turned out to be wrong. One thing to note was that most of his predictions were about politics. Especially, the future political situation of Austrailia.

Wrong Prediction

He made many wrong predictions one of them concerned the 24th Prime Minister of Australia, Paul Keating. He called him one of the prominent leaders of future Austrailia. However, the politician vacated the office just after a year the letter was written in. He was replaced by John Howard who served for nine years.

The Future Of Australia

Wilkinson’s patriotism was clearly reflecting in the letter. He forecasted that the country would always be “an envy of the world.” He also said that Austrailia would always attract admiration for its peaceful society, quality of life, and pace of life.

Stand By It

He showed his full confidence in his predictions through the letter. He firmly stands by them “no matter what happens.” He admired the diverse culture of his country and hoped for best.

Not A Bad Society

He made sure that his letter does not give a bad impression about him to his reader. He clarifies that he did not want to have a dystopian future society in which negativity rises to its height and the world is war-torn.

Helping Each Other

Wilkinson was very hopeful about the future. He hoped that people in the future would value family and friends more than material things. No one would boast about their wealth or big houses instead they would concentrate more on making a contribution to the welfare of society. People in the future would be more generous and empathetic as compared to people of that time.
