What comes to mind when we talk about groupies? For most, it would be beautiful girls who are dressed up eccentrically, mouthing the words of every song and in attendance at every rock band’s concert. We often hear about these intriguing women who have served as inspirations, love interests and the main reason for some of the most beautiful rock songs. These women have seen everything and been through it all when it comes to the rockstar life. With the bands they follow, they have experienced the glitz and the glamour that a rockstar’s life has to offer. While these girls may have gotten their hearts broken by some of these musicians, even they have had their fair share of breaking people’s hearts. We all know by now that rock isn’t the only genre to spur out groupies but the time during the 60s and the 70s was when groupies were at an all-time high. Here is a look at some of the most beautiful, most influential and iconic rock groupies in history.

Bebe Buell

Bebe Buell could truly be called THE groupie. She is one of the most well-known groupies ever and has managed to live off that reputation for her own benefit. Bebe is one of the most (you could say) successful groupies ever because she was capable of launching a steady modeling career for herself. She even went on to become Playboy’s Playmate of the Month back in 1974. Originally from Virginia, she was so focused on being famous that she moved to New York at a very young age. One of the most famous relationships she ever had with a musician. was the one she shared with Todd Rundgren. The two of them began dating from 1972 until they officially broke up in the year 1979. Since Bebe was obviously a very attractive young woman, she had plenty of rockers who fell for her. She even had a short fling with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and ended up with their daughter, the lovely actress Liv Tyler.

Pamela Anderson

groupies

Pamela Anderson is undoubtedly one of the sexiest women ever to walk this earth. So it is obvious that her love life would somehow get affected. Indeed, ‘Baywatch’s CJ Parker has a type; she really is into rockstars. Pamela has dated a string of musicians but there is one man she is most famous for linking up with. Her most famous relationship has to be the one she shared with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. These two ex-lovers, dated from 1995 to 1998 and ended up with 2 sons. Anderson was also shortly involved with another rockstar Bret Michaels and even got married to Kid Rock back in 2006. These days, Pamela Anderson is not so active in the dating scene anymore. It is clear that she has no interest in going back to her old ways; hooking up with multiple rockstars like she used to. Her passion now is working for animal’s rights and fighting against animal abuse.

Anita Pallenberg

Who is another woman who has had a list of musician to fall for her? You guessed it, it is Anita Pallenberg. For almost 10 years, Anita Pallenberg has charmed her way through multiple relationships with rockers who have fallen deeply for her. Her beauty and grace are what make this woman an intriguing, delightful person that so many musicians during that time wanted to have for themselves. She was behind the rocky relationship that the famous band Rolling Stones had for a while. She was the reason behind the band almost breaking up back in the day. This was because Anita was romantically linked with both Brian Jones, then Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. She even had kids with Richards. Even though they split up, the two were in good terms till her recent death at the age of 73 years.

Tawny Kitaen

Tawny Kitaen or Julie Kitaen is one woman who had indeed made a mark in the world of rock music. She first came into the scene as an aspiring actress who had managed to get some good roles in a few movies. One of her most memorable roles would have to be in the film Bachelor Party that was released in 1986. She was also a model in a few notable music videos like Whitesnake’s “Still of the Night” and “Here I Go Again.” Some may remember Tawny Kitaen as that lady who was stretching across in that gorgeous car in the video. But then again, she was not just a video model for the band Whitesnake. She did something more with one of the band members. Tawny eventually tied the know with the band’s vocalist David Coverdale. Even though they were a cute couple, the two split up in 1991 after getting married in 1989.

Pamela Des Barres

groupies

Pamela Des Barres was born into a music loving family. So it is not so surprising that she spent a majority of her time, dreaming about spending time with her favorite rockstars. Pamela’s long list of favorite musicians includes Elvis, Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Des Barres had no idea that she would one-day rib shoulder with some of these idols she grew up listening to. With the assistance of some dear friends, she was able to get her way into the circle that consisted of rock’s most powerful musicians. Later she even found herself babysitting for none other than Frank Zappa. She was also a prominent face that hung around in LA’s Sunset Strip with several musicians. She soon followed the iconic bands The Rolling Stones and The Byrds, getting cozy with some rock g0ds like Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, and Jim Morrison. The song ‘Penny Lane’ was inspired by her and she also served inspiration for Kate Hudson’s role in Almost Famous.

Sable Starr

This woman right here is often called the “Queen of the Groupies”. So yes, of course, Sable Starr had left a noticeable mark in the world of rock’n’roll. She was already locking arms with rockstars before she even turned 18. By 14 years of age, Starr was already included in the group that hung out with the famous rockstars. She was one of the most beloved groupies that even these rockers loved to hang out with. Starr was able to keep these rockstars allured and excited as much as they did her. If you are wondering who all fell into the powerful spell of Starr’s charm, we have the list. The rock stars that she managed to win over include Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, and Iggy Pop, among others. Her heart was most keen on Led Zeppelin’s singer Robert Plant. Starr died in 2009 due to brain cancer.
