All over attraction
In the film “The Legacy,” Elliott’s bare buttocks are shown. Were his buttocks an attraction to the actress? When someone asked her what she was first attracted to – was it his baritone voice, good looks or Mustache? She reverted to that question in the Mercury News: “Probably all that and more. We were working together, and one thing led to another. And here we are.”
Katharine Was Already Married

Didn’t Want To Be A Sex Symbol
After hitting the headlines for his film “The Legacy” and his relationship with Katharine Ross, Elliott’s fame hit a golden phase. His female fan following increased immensely. In an interview with Playgirl magazine in 1976, Elliott said “I don’t want to be known as a sex symbol. There’s a great stigma that goes with that tag. I want to be a Sam Elliott.”
Marriage To Katharine
Katharine and Sam tied the knot in the year 1984. This was Katharine’s fifth marriage and Elliott’s first. The couple was blessed with a baby girl in the same year of their marriage in the month of September. They named her Cleo Rose Elliot. Later, family dealt with many issues.
Originally Turned Down The Role In ‘Mask’
A lot of people would opine that Elliott’s big break, as well as, the huge turning point in his career, was the role of Cher’s biker boyfriend in the film, Mask. However, Elliott nearly refused to do the role. Elliott was enjoying his honeymoon trip with Ross, in Hawaii, when his agent called him and told him to return to California for a screen test for the role. Elliott said no. However, Katharine forced him to give the audition for the film.
Raining Roles For Elliott
Albeit Elliott was already famous for being a great cowboy, his role in ‘Mask’ truly put Hollywood on fire. For Elliott, it was raining roles. He has played the rough cowboy in a lot of productions such as The Quick and the Dead (1987), Houston: The Legend of Texas (1986), Tombstone (1993) and You Know My Name (1999). He was even selected in the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, in 2007.
