Multiple Awards
So in the end, Ayres was given an award. He received an MBE in recognition of his heroic efforts. This man was also given a War Medal for bravery at sea. And incredibly, Ayres returned to sea just nine months later. He is a true example that one must face their fears in order to take control of their lives. And this amazing man passed away in 1992.

You must have definitely seen this photo where a sailor is clicked, giving a smooch to his nurse girlfriend. This iconic photo was shot in New York’s Times Square. This is also referred to by many as the mark of the end of World War II, taken in the year 1945. There is so much to celebrate and so these two lovebirds decided to plant one on each other right there on the streets…
